Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park

Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National needed a partner for their varied digital projects.

We've worked with them to deliver a wide range of internal and external resources for staff, residents and tourists alike.

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority is a non-departmental government body set up in July 2002. Mucky Puddle were initially contracted to redesign and revise the structure and content of its corporate website. Working with key stakeholders, we’ve helped ensure the Park’s place as world leader in its field.

After the initial contract Mucky Puddle were also awarded a three year contract for the extension of support services and for additional development work. This has allowed them the opportunity to further advance the look and features of the site.

In 2012 we worked with the Park to launch a refreshed homepage design, developed around the Park’s new branding, art assets and resources. The centrepiece of this upgrade is a stunning hub slider with paths to key content areas as well as updates from social networks and “what’s on” in the Park.

Helping the Park organise its vast content archive

However, given the wide remit of the Park and its large base of stakeholders, working with Loch Lomond and the Trossachs has resulted in a wide variety of subsidiary projects being undertaken beyond the core site.

We developed a bespoke calendar management system allowing staff to easily add events, promoting activities and encouraging tourists and residents alike to explore the huge range of days out and nights in across the Park. Designed to be as intuitive and visually appealing, everything that’s happening in the Park is now easily navigable, searchable and accessible online.

In addition, we helped take their previously-offline campsite management processes and convert them to a fully-online campsite booking system. Not only is the digital system easier to manage and easy for visitors to use, but it also reduces the workload for staff and has increased visits to the site on Inchcailloch island.

However, not all our projects with the Park have been customer-facing. We’ve recently completed a specialist extranet site for National Park Board Members and related staff; a secure environment where relevant parties can exchange data, disseminate documents and more effectively discuss Park issues.

Developing solutions for staff, residents and tourists alike.

Over 5 years we’ve built a strong relationship with the Park – we’d love to see how we could help your organisation too. Get in touch to discuss how we can grow your business online.
